摘要: Background We report the results of a single-institution, phase II trial accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) using single dose intraoperative electron radiation therapy (IOERT) in patients with low-risk early stage cancer. Methods and Materials A cohort 226 low-risk, cancer were treated local excision axillary management (sentinel node biopsy or without dissection). After surgeon temporarily reapproximated cavity, 21 Gy IOERT was delivered to tumor bed, margin 2 cm laterally. Results With mean follow-up 46 months (range, 28-63 months), only 1 case recurrence reported. The observed toxicity considered acceptable. Conclusions APBI can be safely women early, carefully selected patients. longer is needed ascertain its efficacy compared that current standard treatment whole-breast irradiation.
