摘要: Visual estimates of reef fish length are a nondestructive and useful way determining the biomass, mean length, or frequency fish. Consequently, visual reef-fish often an important component monitoring programs, many which increasingly use volunteers. We compared plastic silhouettes determined visually by experienced scientific novice SCUBA divers. Novice divers showed similar level accuracy (mean error: 2.3 cm) to that 2.1 cm). Significant improvements in precision were provided stereo-video system (0.6 After minimal training hardware software, volunteers can obtain high degree measurement with system, allowing them assist lengths.
