摘要: Purpose: Modern videokeratoscopy is useful in assessing corneal shape. The purpose of this study to compare color-coded topographic maps using standardized scales with 1.0- and 1.5-diopter (D) intervals. authors assessed the use two for detecting clinically relevant features topography such as regular astigmatism, irregular early keratoconus, contact lens-induced warpage. Methods: A total 50 normal corneas, corneas lenses, that had keratoconus (25 moderate 25 advanced), penetrating keratoplasty, 20 extracapsular cataract surgery, 17 excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy myopia, 10 radial keratotomy, 3 aphakic epikeratophakia, 2 myopic epikeratophakia were analyzed a analysis system. Color-coded 1.0-D intervals (Maguire/ Waring scale) 1.5-D (Klyce/Wilson compared. Results: There no characteristics not appreciated either scale dioptric powers fell within their ranges. Conversely, outside range 1.0-diopter scale, but former produced map which flattest or steepest areas artifactually smoothed. Conclusions: This suggests Klyce/Wilson (constant, intervals) provides best combination sensitivity detection significant widest coverage are found on variety normal, pathologic, surgically altered corneas. adoption Klyce/ Wilson by all manufacturers instruments primary standard will facilitate communication make interpretation easier both expert novice.
