摘要: The microbiome associated with an animal’s gut and other organs is considered integral part of its ecological functions adaptive capacity. To better understand how microbial communities influence activities capacities the host, we need more information on that are encoded in a microbiome. Until now, about soil invertebrate microbiomes mostly based taxonomic characterization, achieved through culturing amplicon sequencing. Using shotgun sequencing various bioinformatics approaches explored bacterial metagenome Folsomia candida, established model organism ecology fully sequenced, high-quality genome assembly. Our analysis revealed remarkable diversity genes antimicrobial activity carbohydrate metabolism. also contains several homologs to F. candida were previously identified as candidates for horizontal gene transfer (HGT). We suggest carbohydrate- antimicrobial-related by Folsomia’s play role digestion recalcitrant soil-born polysaccharides defense against pathogens, thereby significantly contributing adaptation these animals life soil. Furthermore, from may constitute important source new springtail.
