摘要: In 1915 Mitchell (18) gave an extensive description of “Jaagsiekte” or “Jagziekte,” a serious infectious endemic disease sheep known in South Africa since about 1893. Both rams and ewes belonging to various races were said be more less susceptible, though lambs seemed remain free. recent publications, however, are also become victims the disease. Jaagsiekte can introduced into areas previously free from it by sick animals, healthy contract stables formerly used suffering it, which proves its character. The course is chronic, onset insidious, may present long before clinical symptoms recognized, causes considerable difficulty experimental work regions. main progressive dyspnea with abundant catarrhal exudate nose, cough, loss appetite, emaciation general weakness very little fever, leading eventually cachexia death. At autopsy lungs show chronic inflammatory changes development much connective tissue proliferation alveolar epithelium, will further discussed below. Mitchell's not as basis for this discussion intercurrent form pneumonia was apparently among animals he studied.
