摘要: Radiotherapy plays an important role in the multidisciplinary management of breast cancer. Recent years have seen improvements cancer survival as well a greater appreciation potential long-term morbidity associated with dose and volume irradiated organs. Proton therapy reduces to non-target structures while optimizing target coverage. However, there remain additional financial costs proton therapy, despite reductions over time, studies yet demonstrate that protons improve upon treatment outcomes achieved photon radiotherapy. There remains considerable heterogeneity patient selection techniques, rapid technological advances field impact evidence evaluation given long latency period for radiotherapy recurrence late effects. In this consensus statement we assess data available radiation oncology community cancer, provide expert recommendations on indications technique, highlight ongoing trials cost-effectiveness analyses, key areas future research.
