摘要: Abstract Increasing use of quantum dots (QDs) makes it necessary to evaluate their toxicological impacts on aquatic organisms, since contamination surface water is inevitable. This study compares the genotoxic effects ionic Cd versus CdTe nanocrystals in zebrafish hepatocytes. After 24 h CdSO 4 or QD exposure, liver (ZFL) cells showed a decreased number viable cells, an accumulation Cd, increased formation reactive oxygen species (ROS), and induction DNA strand breaks. Measured levels stress defense repair genes were elevated both cases. However, removal bulky adducts by nucleotide excision (NER) was inhibited with but not QDs. The adverse caused acute exposure QDs might be mediated through differing mechanisms than those resulting from cadmium toxicity, studying metallic components may enough explain toxicities organisms.
