摘要: Publisher Summary Low-loss optical transmission fibers have been critical to the enormous success of communications technology. Fiber-based components played a role in this success. Many found commercial applications sensor technology such as fiber gyroscopes and other devices. A significant number these were fabricated from polarization maintaining (PMFs). This chapter discusses design, performance various specialty with special attention dispersion compensation fibers, single-polarization highly nonlinear double clad for high-power lasers amplifiers, photonic crystal fibers. Specialty are designed by changing fiberglass composition, refractive index profile, or coating achieve certain unique properties functionalities. The nature microstructured leads an endless variety varying geometries, materials, properties, applications.
