摘要: Within species, levels of gene expression typically vary greatly between tissues, sexes, individuals, and populations. To investigate variation sexes populations in a single somatic tissue, we performed quantitative analysis the Malpighian tubule transcriptome adult males females Drosophila melanogaster derived from two distinct (one sub-Saharan Africa one northern Europe). We identified 2308 genes that differed 2474 at false discovery rate 5%. also more than 1000 showed sex-by-population interaction their expression. The enrichment for wide variety functions, although only 55% them overlapped with sex-biased whole-fly studies. expressed differentially included several were previously implicated adaptive regulatory evolution, an excess cytochrome P450 genes, many not detected previous studies whole flies. Our results demonstrate there is abundant intraspecific within single, tissue uncover new candidates evolution
