摘要: Viruses are biological nanosystems with a capsid of protein-made capsomer units that encloses and protects the genetic material responsible for their replication. Here we show how geometrical constraints capsomer-capsomer interaction in icosahedral capsids fix form shortest universal truncated multipolar expansion two-body between capsomers. The structures many related virus located as single lowest energy states this potential surface. Our approach unveils relevant features natural design can be interest fields nanoscience nanotechnology where similar hollow convex relevant.
