摘要: Purpose of review The modern antiretroviral therapy (ART) era has seen substantial reductions in mortality among people living with HIV. However, HIV-positive who inject drugs (PWIDs) continue to experience high rates suboptimal HIV-related outcomes. We recent findings regarding factors contributing premature and preventable PWID, describe the promise interventions improve survival this group. Recent current leading causes death PWID are HIV/AIDS-related causes, overdose, liver-related including infection hepatitis C virus. Elevated levels population driven by social-structural barriers ART access adherence, particularly criminalization stigmatization drug use. In contexts where opioid substitution adherence support programs widely accessible, evidence highlights comparable HIV do not drugs.
