Elderly Outpatients' Attitudes toward Care in Terminal Stage Disease.

摘要: Responses to a questionnaire regarding 1) dying at home, 2) being told of diagnosis cancer, and 3) hydration nutrition, uses narcotics for pain dyspnea, oxygen treatment, antibiotics, transfusion surgery in near-vegetative state was obtained from 562 outpatients (73.4 +/- 8.6 years:mean SD, men:women = 1.0:1.7). Dying home preferred by 64% hospital death 24%. Sixty 65% patients chose be the either last 3 months or early curable stage disease respectively, while only 53% wanted precisely about their remaining estimated survival. If spouse had terminal disease, 42% inform diagnosis. Eighty percent palliative care, 9.3% wished intensive life-sustaining treatment. In near vegetative state, tube feeding desired 8.7% intravenous drip infusion 39%; dyspnea were 40 52%; tracheostomy plus respirator chosen 56 11% respectively; antibiotics treatment infection 38%; intestinal obstruction 36 percent; bleeding 29%; no any situation 21%. Commonly expressed wishes natural death, status details care not well recognized.
