摘要: Abstract Atmospheric methyl iodide (CH 3 I) has been measured at a ground-based site in eastern England for two consecutive summers. Maximum values of 43.1 pptv and 28.9 were recorded 1989 1990, respectively. CH I was not detectable the autumn winter months. Episodes elevated concentration persisted periods ranging from few hours to several days. The origin much observed 1 would appear be Atlantic Ocean, indicating presence large source areas, possibly phytoplankton blooms, ocean waters. If so, this work provides first evidence long-range transport an important iodine-bearing species concentrations hemispheric significance. Estimates are made dry deposition velocity potential impact tropospheric levels on human uptake iodine.
