摘要: Classic IR (information retrieval) is inherently predicated on users searching for information, the so-called "information need". But need behind a web search often not informational -- it might be navigational (give me url of site I want to reach) or transactional (show sites where can perform certain transaction, e.g. shop, download file, find map). We explore this taxonomy searches and discuss how global engines evolved deal with web-specific needs.
