摘要: Video recording of prey deliveries to nests is a new technique for collecting data on raptor diet, but no thorough comparison results from traditional methods based collections remains and pellets has been undertaken. We compared these 3 determine relative merits different assessing diet as part study the breeding-season northern goshawks (Accipiter gentilis) in Southeast Alaska. applied 5 during each goshawk breeding seasons 1998 1999 identified 1,540 deliveries, 209 remains, pellets. The proportions birds mammals varied among techniques, did groups age groups. Prey gave least-similar descriptions. Over 2-day intervals which were collected using all methods, prey-delivery more individual categories than 2 other sources information. found that not directly tracked either or with delivery videography. Analysis videography provided most complete description we recommend studies attempting describe use this technique, at least their methodology.
