摘要: Traditional land use practices declined throughout many of Europe's rural landscapes during the 20th century. Rewilding (i.e. restoring ecosystem functioning with minimal human intervention) is being pursued in areas, and restocking or reintroduction key species often part rewilding strategy. Such programmes require ecological information about target areas but this not always available. Using example Iberian ibex Capra pyrenaica within Europe framework we address following questions: (1) Are there Western Iberia that are environmentally favourable for species? (2) If so, these well connected each other? (3) Which favour establishment expansion a viable population programme? We modelled environmental favourableness Peninsula using logistic regression forward–backward stepwise procedure, assessed landscape connectivity graph analytical approach after downscaling model to region. Our results indicate several habitat patches study area present conditions ibex. Overall, most was concentrated northern central patches. highlight potential practical application protocol used, successful integration distribution modelling design broad-scale recovery programmes.
