摘要: Abstract In anaerobic cultures of Mucor rouxii, morphogenesis was strongly dependent on hexose concentration as well pCO2. At low levels or CO2, both, hyphal development occurred; at high levels, the fungus developed yeast cells. Other dimorphic strains responded similarly to and CO2 but differred in their relative sensitivity these agents. Glucose most effective eliciting M. rouxii; fructose mannose were next; galactose last. The may be grown into shapes covering its entire spectrum simply by manipulating medium. Thus, 0.01% glucose, hyphae exceedingly long narrow; higher sugar concentrations, became progressively shorter wider; finally, about 8% almost all cells progeny isodiametric (spherical budding cells). Such occurred without a manifested requirement for exogenous CO2. stimulation is not an artifact due increased production metabolic (hyphae released similar rates). Presumably, effect caused some other catabolite which interfered with (apical growth); deprived polarity, grew spherical yeastlike shapes. Although 10% glucose inhibited from germinating spores, it did prevent elongation preformed hyphae. This suggests that inhibits blocking operation enzyme complex responsible apical growth preventing initiation; such inhibition regarded repression morphogenesis.
