摘要: Abstract The present knowledge of climate variability in the Indian sub-continent from terrestrial records is extremely widespread. Very few studies, backed by sound chronological database, extend to full duration even Late Quaternary. A critical evaluation available stratigraphic as well data needs be undertaken establish secure proxy-climatic indicators Indian-sub-continent. This paper presents a synthesis fluvial and fluvio-deltaic successions for Pleistocene–Holocene period Ganga basin. basin, trending parallel strike Himalayan foreland, shows clear expression modern precipitation doubles west east transect Delhi Kolkata. has resulted complex spatial response river systems because variable stream power sediment discharges that result present-day degradational aggradational regimes across plains. We believe such geomorphic diversity existed over most Quaternary manifested significant alluvial architecture developed below have analyzed sedimentary basin highlighted influence climatic generation these successions.
