摘要: In a borehole radar (BHR) survey, steel cable or metallic drill pipe attached to BHR can act as waveguide, and often gives measured radargrams with strong, obliquely striped events. These guided wave events are commonly considered interference noise for conventional surveys have not been fully investigated. To better understand these events, 2-D cylindrical finite-difference time-domain method is used in this paper simulation investigation of the propagation. Snapshots wavefields response profiles different configurations simulated analyzed generation interaction process waves surrounding formation. The results confirm that if conductive be coupled waveguide generate propagating along borehole. backward-looking forward-looking reflections from strata discontinuities recorded on profiles. makes it feasible image ahead bit real time while drilling using BHR. A simple formula estimate location interface given. Based synthetic data 3–7 m away interface, was demonstrated accurately predicted an error about 1 cm. Finally, effect length also discussed.
