摘要: There is increasing evidence that an active lifestyle benefits both body and brain. However, not everyone may be able to exercise due disease, injury or aging-related frailty. Identification of cellular targets activated by physical activity lead the development new compounds can, some extent, mimic systemic central effects exercise. This review will focus on factors relevant energy metabolism in muscle, such as 5' adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) - sirtuin (SIRT1) Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) pathway, molecules affecting it. In particular, putative exercise-mimetics AICAR, metformin, GW501516 discussed. Moreover, plant-derived polyphenols resveratrol (-)epicatechin, with exercise-like brain evaluated.
