Surgical treatment of the spontaneous spinal epidural abscess

摘要: Seven cases of spontaneous epidural abscess are reviewed. Three patients had posterior abscesses and no evidence vertebral body osteomyelitis. These excellent outcomes with laminectomies antibiotics. Because significant destruction, two osteomyelitis required fixation after laminectomy. Two other complete destruction the anterior decompression fusion in addition to fixation. In four osteomyelitis, morbidity was high, reflecting their age medical problems. This review supports contention that medically stable can be treated laminectomy antibiotics little risk progressive instability. The proper surgical treatment secondary requires knowledge about amount supporting columns, neural compression purulence, patient's general condition.
