摘要: Phototrophic marine organisms, particularly photosynthetic algae, are a diverse source of natural products ranging from lipid-based biofuels to pharmacologically-active compounds. The engineered production both biomass and is accomplished within enclosed, illuminated bioreactor systems called photobioreactors. This chapter describes the basic principles photobioreactor analysis design, biological factors that limit performance for controlled cultivation phototrophic organisms. There three parts this chapter. First, quantitative growth characteristics organisms in liquid cell suspension culture described, including use stoichiometry describe nutrient incorporation into cellular biomass, combined effects dissolved concentration light intensity on rate. Second, elements design operation presented, focusing models predicting batch or continuous modes common configurations. Third, limiting critically assessed point view, carbon dioxide transfer limitations, their production. Finally, future directions applications enclosed photobioreactors overviewed.
