摘要: [1] Limited understanding of the production and loss organic aerosol (OA) to atmosphere has resulted in poorly constrained source estimates ranging from 140 910 TgCyr−1 [Goldstein Galbally, 2007]. We use satellite observations quantitatively estimate atmospheric burden associated production. find that attributing mid-visible continental optical depth (AOD) observed by MISR entirely OA implies a global 430 sub-micron OA. model (GEOS-Chem) remove contribution inorganic aerosol, dust soot AOD derive 150 (equivalent 2.5 TgC), with 80% uncertainty. This result significantly reduces uncertainty budget provides an upper limit for “missing source”
