摘要: A study was carried out to further evaluate the practicability of viral depuration by assaying individual shellfish. The Northern quahaug and a strain type 1 attenuated poliovirus were used as working model. Two types systems employed: small experimental tanks pilot-size tank with capacity approximately 24 bushels (836 liters) Volumes shellfish samples found uniform throughout experiments when prior selection for weight made. There also no significant difference in volumes during course (24 96 hr). Under controlled hydrographic conditions, however, uptake virus varied considerably. In general, variability reached 10- 100-fold. This wide variation would explain contents obtained pooled reported previously. During later phase depuration, although great majority free virus, few still harbored minimal amounts contaminants. presence some after various periods would, theoretically, be obscured pooling sampled Further examination negative larger quantities than those routinely revealed that contained virus. To simulate naturally polluted closely technically possible, cleansed more rapidly process Since shown contain less studied laboratory, it is anticipated former may readily this within reasonable period time. Justification field trial country presented. Images
