Business at the margins? Business interests in edge urban politics

摘要: The issue of the organization, role and influence business interests in urban politics at edge major cities is one that overdue for investigation. This article provides an initial empirically oriented investigation Europe. We present findings from five members a European network self-styled ‘edge cities’. Following now extensive debate academic literature regarding applicability US concepts such as growth machines regimes to setting, we draw attention diversity involvement Europe’s capital cities. does include instances that, despite very different ‘macro-necessities’ structuring Europe, approximate these concepts. Moreover, apparent raises several important questions future research on governance. Namely, complex connection between local dependence organization its interests; ‘jumping scales’ by locally dependent actors, sometimes neglected articulation with party political organization.
