摘要: Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) use losses in China's food chain have accelerated the past three decades, driven by population growth, rapid urbanization, dietary transition, changing nutrient management practice. There has been little detailed quantitative analysis of relative magnitude these driving forces throughout this period. Therefore, we analyzed changes N P flows key drivers behind (production consumption) at national scale from 1980 to 2010. Food (N P) consumption increased about fivefold urban settings over period but decreased rural since 1990s. For settings, integrated for were which accounted similar 60%, diets toward a greater emphasis on animal products. Nutrient inputs crop productions continuously 2010, rates decadal increase greatly different. Increased total production primarily demand (68-96%) 1980s likely offset 2000s improved practices, as evidenced cropland harvesting per crop. The contributions waters 34 60% These increases caused mainly ratios manure returned cropland. Our study highlights larger impact practice than growth elevated chain.
