摘要: Background: The amount of calcium ingested by an individual may affect several chronic conditions, including osteoporosis, hypertension, and colon cancer. However, individuals vary in their ability to absorb the they consume. Objective: purpose this study was examine sources interindividual variation efficiency absorption women. Design: Fractional estimated 142 healthy pre- perimenopausal Dietary habits, lifestyle factors, calciotropic hormones, vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms were also assessed. Results: Calcium values averaged 35% ranged from 17% 58%. positively associated with body mass index (r = 0.22, P 0.007), dietary fat intake 0.29, 0.001), serum 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin [1,25(OH) 2 D] concentrations 0.23, 0.006), parathyroid hormone 0.21, 0.015). inversely total -0.18, 0.030), fiber -0.19, 0.028), alcohol consumption -0.14, 0.094), physical activity -0.22, symptoms constipation -0.16, 0.059). In stepwise regression analysis, fat, fiber, 1,25(OH) D, emerged as independent predictors absorption, explaining 21.02% observed variation. Women lowest tertile ratio had 19% lower fractional than did women highest (test trend, < 0.001). Conclusions: There is a wide range consumed relative appears have important role determining differences performance among individuals.
