摘要: Purpose: Visual function assessment questionnaires ask people to rate the difficulty they have performing visual activities of daily living (ADLs). This study examines relationship between selfreported and actual performance in such ADLs. Methods: Twenty four subjects with established bilateral impairment initially self-reported their 4 ADLs (reading newsprint, reading medicine labels, identifying coins entering a PIN). Subjects variants these was then assessed by measuring time taken; an observer rating performance; subject perceived each specific task. Clinical parameters were also assessed. Results: Varying ADL task changed how well correlated difficulty. function, completion all significantly difficulty, explaining up 69% variance However, despite replicating as closely possible clinical environment clinic tasks rated being less than initial real-world Conclusions: The variant used is important when assessing functional directly. Timed observer-rated methods can be appropriate for vision. In this small study, disconnect or suggests that not only factor influencing self-report, responses should interpreted light.
