摘要: Background Travelers' diarrhea (TD) has generally been considered a self-limited disorder which resolves more quickly with expeditious and appropriate antibiotic therapy given bacteria are the most frequently identified cause. However, epidemiological, clinical, basic science evidence identifying number of chronic health conditions related to these infections recently emerged challenges this current paradigm. These include serious potentially disabling enteric extra-intestinal long-term complications. Among rheumatologic, neurologic, gastrointestinal, renal, endocrine disorders. This review aims examine summarize literature pertaining three post-infectious disorders: reactive arthritis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome relationship associated travel as well gastroenteritis may not be specifically but relevant by shared microbial pathogens. It is hoped will allow clinicians who see travelers aware sequelae thus adding our body knowledge in medicine. Methods Data for article were searches PubMed MEDLINE, references from articles using search terms “travelers' diarrhea” “reactive arthritis” “Guillain-Barre syndrome” “Post-Infectious Irritable Bowel Syndrome.” Abstracts included when previously published work. Results Conclusions A reveals that potential consequences travelers' extend beyond acute illness complications common than currently recognized. In addition since TD such occurrence it would helpful able identify those might at greater risk order target aggressive prophylactic or therapeutic approaches individuals. medicine.
