摘要: We are writing in response to a recent critique by Emerson & Hickerson (2015), who challenge the evidence of time-dependent bias molecular rate estimates. This takes form negative relationship between inferred evolutionary rates and ages calibrations on which these estimates based. Here, we present summary obtained from broad range taxa that supports estimates, with consideration potential causes observed trends. also describe progress improving reliability estimation respond concerns raised (2015) about validity estimated time-structured sequence data. In doing so, hope dispel some misconceptions highlight several research directions will improve our understanding biases
