摘要: There has been interest in farming Arctic charr, Salvelinus alpinus, since the 1970s, but expansion of industry not as rapid originally predicted due to problems experienced with obtaining supplies viable eggs and juveniles, variable growth flesh pigmentation during grow-out, year-round culture sea water, early maturation, related marketing portion-size fish. Several these are probably a manifestation mismatch between environmental requirements fish rearing environment. For example, rates broodstock maturation poor survival result holding charr at temperatures that unsuitable for optimal reproduction. Poor heterogeneous grow-out may be sub-optimal stocking densities. Further, fillet rates, rather than being true reflection ability deposit carotenoids their flesh. Provided held under conditions promote good growth, appear able adequate amounts pigment when fed diets contain 50–70 mg per kg diet. © Rapid Science Ltd. 1998
