摘要: Wolbachia are maternally inherited, obligate, intracellular bacteria inducing a form of sterility known as cytoplasmic incompatibility. based strategies have been proposed for the control disease vectors. One example is to use population replacement strategy drive into natural novel that modifies age structure vector population, reducing transmission. In this research, effects life-shortening stain (popcorn Wolbachia) transferred mosquitoes Aedes albopictus (Chapter Two and Three) A. aegypti Four Five). In Chapter Two, symbiosis significantly reduced fecundity egg hatches in albopictus, with being highly pathogenic mosquito species. Three, relationship between popcorn its host (in triple-infected strain) varied diet. Feeding on mouse blood was associated loss infection, whereas infection maintained human blood-fed lines. Egg viability triple infected only blood. In Four, competitiveness (e.g., low survival increased developmental time) immatures Wolbachia, relative uninfected individuals food condition. Five, decreased immature presence potential predators (i.e., older or larvae). Using behavioral assay, delayed larval reaction light avoidance observed be suggesting behaviors. In Six, wAlbB showed similar reproduction potential. No level CI mating males. The results suggest can an additional agent Wolbachia-based strategies. In Seven, filtering system using commercially available sieves able separate from water, preventing escape mosquitoes. Eight, inexpensive artificial feeding designed multiple cages. support these tools facilitate mass rearing
