We identified 185 eligible samples using comprehensive literature search synthesized random-effects meta-analyses with robust standard errors. Overall, led to significant reductions in consumption alcohol-related problems among (g = 0.27 g 0.19) 0.17 0.11). These effects persisted up 1 year after intervention did not vary across participant demographics, length, or format. However, certain modalities (e.g., motivational interviewing) components decisional balance, goal-setting exercises) were associated larger effects. conclude that yield beneficial on outcomes are modest but potentially worthwhile given their brevity low cost.
