摘要: We used the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a method useful in detection of Borrelia burgdorferi vitro, to evaluate CSF patients thought have neuroborreliosis. Nested pairs oligonucleotide primers were designed recognize C-terminal region B OspA. samples obtained from (1) with immunologic evidence systemic infection and clinical manifestations suggestive CNS dysfunction, (2) seronegative disorders consistent Lyme borreliosis, (3) patient contamination controls; all analyzed blinded fashion. PCR detected OspA DNA 10 11 encephalopathy, 28 37 inflammatory disease, seven Lyme-compatible disorders, (4) zero 23 controls. Zero 83 additional controls PCR-positive. In eight whom we before after parenteral antimicrobial therapy, results invariably predicted outcome accurately.
