摘要: This study examines the impact of immigration on labor market opportunities native-born population by looking through window migration. We use Current Population Survey data to analyze one-year migration patterns Anglos and Blacks include presence recent immigrants in origin (potential) destination US states among covariates. Our departure model employs a logit specification predict outmigration (vs not) from state during year prior survey. arrival uses conditional discrete choice with sampling alternatives state. The are taken 1981, 1984, 1987, 1990 Surveys. work adds other knowledge migratory response workers sheds light theories substitution complementarity markets. States high levels less likely retain Anglo or receive new interstate migrants, but this apparent effect is partially offset long-term immigrant stock. Lower skilled more susceptible than those higher skill level. In black population, results complex. blacks attracted locations, African-Americans level selected occupations industries predicted be remain choose many immigrants.
