摘要: Syndromes of hybrid dysgenesis (HD) have been critical for our understanding the transgenerational maintenance genome stability by piRNA. HD in D. virilis represents a special case since it includes simultaneous mobilization set TEs that belong to different classes. The standard explanation is eggs responder strains lack an abundant pool piRNAs corresponding asymmetric TE families transmitted solely sperm. However, there are several TEs, but exhibit "neutral" cytotype confers resistance HD. To characterize mechanism HD, we performed comparative analysis landscape ovarian small RNAs vary their mediated sterility. We demonstrate cannot be explained maternal piRNA matches assemblage likely cause In support this, witnessed shift from neutral (N) susceptible (M) strain devoid all major implicated This occurred absence significant change copy number and expression homologous TEs. Instead, this associated with chromatin profile repeat sequences unlikely causative paternal induction. Overall, data suggest TE-mediated sterility during may achieved mechanisms distinct canonical syndromes
