摘要: This study investigated the antibacterial resistance among enterococci isolated in Tehran hospitals. A total of 277 Enterococcus faecalis, 123 faecium and 13 isolates other enterococcal strains were collected from 1 March 2002 to 15 April 2004 three teaching hospitals University Medical Sciences. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) tested antibiotics determined by agar dilution method. Susceptible resistant defined according species-related MIC breakpoints Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines. Sixty- percent rifampicin (MIC90 64 µg/ml), 44% ciprofloxacin 16≤ 43% erythromycin 512 32% cefazolin 256≤ 25% penicillin 32 21% ampicillin 128≤ 8% vancomycin ≤ 8 teicoplanin µg/ml). All vancomycin-resistant carried vanA phenotype genotype. High level gentamicin streptomycin found 52% 83% isolates, respectively. results indicated that a significant percentage are different antibiotics, pointing out need for control strategies avoid dissemination continuous surveillance detection emerging traits.
