摘要: Homestead agroforestry, in the form of homegardens, has a long tradition many developing countries. These systems are an intimate mix diversified agricultural crops and multipurpose trees planted, maintained by members household. This paper aims to explore species composition commonly found homestead agroforestry Ganges valley northern Bangladesh their contribution local livelihoods. Three villages i.e., ‘Capasia’, ‘Chak Capasia’ and ‘Baduria’ were selected as primary study area. A total 53 plant under 32 families were identified from area it was that relative density highest for Areca catechu (areca palm), Artocarpus heterophyllus (jackfruit) Mangifera indica (mango). Financial analysis showed homestead agroforestry net benefit increases increasing landholding classes. However, no significant difference was between number different farm sizes, contrasting other studies accused this relationship. The comparison Shannon-Wiener index between natural forest statistical difference, reinforcing role homegardens biological conservation Bangladesh. Therefore, practices homesteads, should be strategy for enhancing tree cover order meet basic needs people for environmental sustainability.
