摘要: Personalized medicine can be defined broadly as a model of healthcare that is predictive, personalized, preventive and participatory. Two US President’s Council Advisors on Science Technology reports illustrate challenges in personalized (in 2008 report) use health information technology 2010 report). Translational bioinformatics field help address these by the American Medical Informatics Association “the development storage, analytic interpretive methods to optimize transformation increasing voluminous biomedical data into proactive, preventative participatory health.” This article discusses barriers implementing genomics applications current progress toward overcoming barriers, describes lessons learned from early experiences institutions engaged provides example areas for translational research inquiry.
