摘要: Satellite DNAs (stDNAs) of four Acomys species (spiny-mice), A. cahirinus, cineraceus, dimidiatus and russatus, belong to closely related sequence families. Monomer sizes range from 338 364 bp. Between-species identity was 81.0% 97.2%. The molecular phylogeny the sequences helps clarify taxonomy this ‘difficult’ group. genome contains about 60 000 repeats. According restriction patterns, repeats are arranged in tandem. stDNA maps centromeric heterochromatin most autosomes, both acrocentric metacentric, but appears be absent region Y chromosomes. A well-conserved centromere protein B (CENP-B) box is present russatus while it degenerated other species.
