摘要: Formal processes for environmental assessment (EA) have been established throughout the world. In Western Australia (WA) informal strategic advice, which sits outside of formal or legally binding project based impact process required significant development proposals, has in use nearly two decades. Such prepared by Environmental Protection Authority under s16 Act 1986, is an early form EA intended to inform pre-project stages development. No previous studies investigated this advice WA. Through literature review, interviews with practitioners and case studies, research value influence non-binding While international gives a limited account potential approaches EA, main results were obtained from 29 who involved formulation The majority those interviewed believe respect providing upfront greater certainty clarity on what acceptable (including direction guidance both proponents regulatory authorities). However number limitations its also identified including cost, time resources it requires currency shelf life, uptake issues implementation recommendations are not enforceable. Provision clear objectives, as well improvements timing relevance making more (as guide developers) positive ways forward. The revealed similar focused specific issue being held be favourable.
