摘要: An integrated remote sensing approach quantified saltmarsh dynamics in response to a sudden change surface elevation due restoration scheme. The biogeomorphological relationship between and presence occurs over the long-term so can be difficult observe, though ‘managed realignment’ of coastal defences provides unique experimental opportunity study this relationship. Realignment at Freiston Shore, Lincolnshire, UK August 2002 caused high-magnitude sediment input into local system, significantly increasing intertidal elevation. resulting impacts on external, fronting were by aerial photography airborne multispectral imagery. Algal pioneer boundary positions calculated from 1984 2006, with latter zone migrating slowly seaward pre-realignment (3.8 m a−1), but advancing post-realignment (21.3 a−1). Classification five-year imagery accurately showed subtle changes vegetation community composition within these boundaries. realignment site was also colonized rapidly compared other sites, its high starting This shows how, sufficient accommodation space, management decisions release surfaces physical constraints colonization.
