摘要: The study utilizes Landsat-7 ETM+ based Normalized Differences Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Water (NDWI) from 1972 to 2012 at the area situated in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa state, North-western Nigeria. classified satellite data NDVI of 1972, 1986, 2003 2012, including NDWI were used determine land-cover change; vegetation water body that have occurred areas. This attempts use a comparative change detection analysis produce best way quantify changes has with lag time 40 years (1972-2012) for 26 (1986-2012) NDWI. results classifications displayed on imagery, which percentage differences detected variations land cover/vegetation using 1972-1986 is 15%, 1986-2003 40% 2003-2012 11.6%. In same vein, result bodies 0.03% 1.5%. final period 43.4%, while periods 1.47%. recommends periodic examination land-use determining various ecological developmental consequences over time. great environmental economic importance having cover rich agricultural production livestock grazing.
