摘要: The title compound has been prepared from BaO, NbO{sub 2} and Nb mixtures, at 1,200 C under an hydrostatic pressure of 12 kbar. It is cubic, a = 4.3239(4) {angstrom}, the Rietveld analysis X-ray diffraction profile shows strong deficiency in both Ba oxygen positions. Unlike metallic BaNbO{sub 3}, this defect perovskite insulating behavior, vacancies hindering electronic delocalization along structure.
