Struggle and solidarity: civic republican elements in Pierre Bourdieu’s political sociology

摘要: Pierre Bourdieu developed a theory of democratic politics that is at least as indebted to civic republicanism Marxism. He was familiar with the republican tradition, and it increasingly influenced both his political interventions sociological work, especially late in career. drew above all on Niccolo Machiavelli’s version republicanism, though French tradition also him via Durkheimian social theory. Three elements Bourdieu’s work particular—his concept field autonomy, view interests universalism, understanding how solidarity generated sustained—may be understood, part, reformulations ideas. By drawing attention these influences, article aims show conceptual resources which some critics, including Jeffrey C.
