摘要: Objectives: The effect of performance enhancing drugs on historic records in sport is open to interpretation and needs empirical support. Here we addressed this contentious issue by assessing whether a double sigmoidal model could detect decrements sporting attributed introduction drug testing protocols. Methods: Distances thrown the top 25 male female shot putters since end 19th century were modelled using sigmoid. Results: First-phase peak acceleration men’s women’s put was reached 1981 1986 respectively coinciding with advent systematic doping programs. Shot men women underwent second-phase decline 5.3 m 8.9 m, 1991 1994, respectively. Performance decrements in were nearly that for men, but much difference resulted from reduced mass of their shot. Controlling changes mass, appears greater extent than men’s, based raw energy calculations. Conclusions: detected performances. We attribute data feature onset improved protocols consequential reduction doping. The assumption programs has been successful prevalence drug taking sport. application statistics can be used detect unknown interventions analyses sports performance.
