摘要: This study examines the role of temporal cues in spectral masking, such as beats and intrinsic envelope fluctuations. Predictions from modulation-filterbank model developed by Dau et al. [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 102, 2906–2919 (1997)] are compared to average masking patterns Moore 104, 1023–1038 (1998)]. In these experiments, tones narrow-band noises have been used signal masker, so that all four signal–masker combinations considered. addition, predictions with new experimental data conditions notched-noise where masker consisted two whose bandwidth frequency separation were varied systematically. The uses a peripheral filtering stage linear symmetric Gammatone filters, an adaptation includes static compressive nonlinearity for stationary input stumuli higher sensitivity fluctuation, modulation filterbank analyzes output each channel. For low medium levels, accounts very well signal-masker conditions, conditions. contrast, version acts like energy detector account only some data, generally do not shape patterns. high level, simulations suggest use asymmetric steeper high-frequency slope than is model, consistent results previous studies. several nonlinear effects become apparent at this which cannot be accounted current model.
