摘要: Objectives: Evaluate whether breastfeeding (BF) duration predicts later psychosocial development (PD) in a largelow socioeconomic status (SES) sample the Philippines.Methods: The consists of 2,752 children aged 5–6 years who were measured 2004 as part Philippinegovernment’s Early Childhood Development Project. Duration any BF was primary independent variable inregression models predicting cumulative index PD that has been shown previously to predict school readiness.Results: In this sample, mothers breastfed their for longer tended have lower educational attain-ment and come from income households. Despite this, positive predictor future meas-ured late childhood, but only after adjustment SES related confounders.Conclusions: These findings add growing evidence could provide lasting economic social benefits andunderscore importance continuing current public health efforts promote Philippines across theglobe.
