摘要: Noroviruses are the leading cause of foodborne disease outbreaks worldwide, and may soon eclipse rotaviruses as most common severe pediatric gastroenteritis, use rotavirus vaccines becomes more widespread. Genetic mutations recombinations contribute to broad heterogeneity noroviruses emergence new epidemic strains. Although typically a self-limited disease, norovirus gastroenteritis can significant morbidity mortality among children, elderly, immunocompromised. The lack cell culture or small animal model has hindered research development novel therapeutic preventative interventions. However, based on capsid protein virus-like particles promising one day become widely available through transgenic expression in plants.
