摘要: Objective: To assess the occurrence and severity of thrombocytopenia in hospitalized vivax malaria patients. Design setting: Retrospective descriptive hospital based case series from March 2005 to 2007, conducted medical unit Al Khor Hospital. Patients methods: Seventy-eight patients with peripheral smear positive were enrolled study. Peripheral examination for parasites was used as method choice diagnosis malaria. Hematological parameters determined by using an automated analyzer. Low platelet counts re-evaluated manual methods. Results: Study sample 78 patients, which 65 (83.3%) thrombocytopenic. Of these, 41 (52.6%) had mild thrombocytopenia, 23 (29.5%) moderate 1 patient (1.3%) severe thrombocytopenia. All (100%) male.
